Typically relished on Easter, hot cross buns date back to the 12th century. They're yeasted sweet buns made with spices and fruits such as currants, raisins and candied citrus.

Follow Chef Sanjana's step by step recipe and make these for your family this weekend.


250gm All purpose flour
140gm Cold water
6gm Salt
20gm Sugar
Zest of 2 oranges or 4 lemons
15gm Yeast
40gm Milk
50gm Candied orange or apricot
50gm Raisins
50gm Chocolate chips
